Large Antique Japanese Imari Charger or Plate - Arita, Kakiemon - Meiji Period

A stunning 18-3/8" Japanese Imari Meiji period (1868-1912) wall charger or large plate of deep-dish form with six panels of decoration, three in the shape of fans.

Flowers, foliage, birds, streams and clouds fill the panels.  The center reserve is filled with a floral garniture surrounding a foo lion or dog. 

The charger is excellent quality with underglaze blues and rich overglaze iron red enamels highlighted in gilt. 

The back of the plate is also decorated with a blue underglaze and floral design.
