"It will be the greatest perfume of them all and we will call it Opium" So said the genius Yves saint Laurent to fellow genius Jean-Louis Sieuzac

Yves Saint Laurent OPIUM Eau de Toilette 60ml (this equates to 2oz ) Body Lotion 50ml & fabulous rare heavy hinged box ~ This weighs nearly a kilo when packaged hense criminal shipping fee.

Vintage1980s batch code stamped into back of bottle 15077 with date batch codes & 01488 I have set this into a beyond gorgeous hinged box, which is heavy enough to be wood, it is glorious though it is possible it is from the late 80s to early 90s, I just don't know, the box has been beautifully laquered in classic cinnabar paint & fully lined in midnight blue satin, the underside of the box has been given a layer of velvet so as not to mark your dressing table.  The 50ml body lotion is exquisite.

An incredibly rare vintage 1980s pre barcode Opium,  marked Yves Saint Laurent Paris to base of bottle with date batch codes also etched into the back of the bottle, the sharply angulated numbers clearly those of the late 1070s to early -mid 1980s

This is as good as it gets, it doesn't get any better than this & would make a spectacular gift,  the glorious huge flask is in perfect untouched never seen the light of day condition, I have added a beautifully scented 50ml body lotion &  popped the pair into this fabulous hinged box which is in perfect condition & also possesses the original bath & body information sheet.

To say this smells extraordinary is not doing it justice, for this is the gorgeous unforgettable first formula, a heavy intoxicating marriage of woody herbs, rare spices & essential oils.

Vintage Opium possesses extraordinary longevity thanks to the collosal % of rare essences & oils used in its production (which helped to drive YSL into so much debt it was forced into having to sell off its parfum division) , other than that there is nothing to proclaim that this is vintage other than the details I have mentioned above & of course its unmistakeble packaging.

OPIUM was created in 1977 by Jean-Louis Sievzec  & became a runaway success from the day of its launch, it has had a few new interpretations over the years, forget what Opium has been forced to become, this is exquisite

Top notes are mandarin orange, lily-of-the-valley and bergamot; middle notes are red myrhh, jasmine and marigold; base notes are amber, patchouli, opoponax and vanilla
