This is a simply beautiful solid gold brooch of a galloping horse which weighs between 10g -11grams & in A1 MINT unworn condition.
Created by Alabaster & Wilson who are world famous for their equestrian jewellery, & who have been making fabulous equestrian pieces for over 100 years.
It is fully hallmarked (though I can barely make them out) & can not read what the date stamp is, though it's certainly prior to the mid 1980s as was given to me on the birth of our son almost 29 years ago & my husband felt they had had the brooch for a while.
It measures exactly 4.4cm just over 1.4" from its muzzle to the tip of its tail & weighs somewhere between 10-11g (my digital scales can't be more specific & keeps switching between 10 & 11g).
This was given to me in the late 1980s, (& it was a lovely gift to receive for at the time I kept & painted horses) & was unearthed in a prestigious long standing Cardiff jewellers. The beauty of this brooch speaks for itself, but what can't be seen is it has had a soft, (possibly) 18ct wash of gold over the 9ct which gives a satin finish to the brooch.
I can swear that this has never seen the light of day, i deemed it to precious to be worn. This is stunning, would make a spectacular rare gift & will be shipped boxed. I would be over the moon if this went to someone who truly loves horses.
