Development of high-speed fighter and-3 was carried out under the direction of NN Polikarpov in 1926. After considering a number of options for I-3 chose German BMW motor-VI. I-3 was a biplane odnostoechny mostly wooden structure. The aircraft has a very clean aerodynamic shape. Due to the relatively heavy weight of the motor I-3 was significantly higher than that of other domestic fighters in those years. The first prototype I-3 went on trial in the spring of 1928 showed the biggest in the USSR speed - 290 km / h. In the summer of 1928 was released the second copy of the I-3, which passed state tests in NII VVS. After the test, military experts recommended the adoption of I-3 on the arms, and he began to act in combat units. During the period 1928-1931 gg. was released and 389 fighter-3. Not a bad development, a good detailing, decent printing. All this will make it possible to collect interesting and beautiful model.
