C70 Short Stubby Helical Portable Antenna

Tuned to Your UHF Frequency Range Choice Variation

This listing is for one known-brand Stubby antenna that was purchased new and then custom fine-tuned by us to obtain an outstanding high level of performance using lab grade equipment to one of the 15 different frequency ranges listed that you must choose from.  If you need even a smaller high performance antenna for UHF please see our C70S antenna listings.

The portable radio shown in the photos is for reference only and is not included.  The optional ID color bands are not included with the antenna purchase but are available as an added option.

Our C70 antenna fits the DMR portable radios that have a bottom O-ring weather seal and a special 1/4-36 threaded antenna stud to properly fit the portable antenna jack.  The grooves for the optional color ID bands are ready for use if needed.

This antenna is compatible with the following Motorola MotoTrBo radio models; XPR3300,  XPR3300e,  XPR3500,  XPR3500e, XPR7350, XPR7350e, XPR7550, XPR7550e

This antenna is an excellent upgrade replacement for the following antenna models: PMAE4069, PMAE4070, PMAE4071, PMAE4079, AN000348A01, AN000350A01, AN000351A01

Our custom tuned portable antenna has been very successful in meeting the common quest for a physically smaller antenna with a performance better than any known-brand stubby, quarter wave whip antenna, or ANY aftermarket antenna available hands down.  If you are looking for a small portable antenna that has unbelievable and certified performance you are in the right place.

This custom tuned C70 antenna will be approximately 2.125 ±0.125 inches tall depending on the frequency range as measured from the bottom of the PVC radome to the top cap of the antenna.

The final VSWR of 1.5:1 or less will occur across your frequency range choice for true high performance FM narrow band analog or digital communications range.  If you need a tuned frequency range that is different from what is listed please let us know.

FACT:  A  BIGGER  antenna is usually not better,

just really    BIG !

IMPORTANT:  Please do not make any purchase until you know for sure what UHF frequencies are being used in your portable radio.

If you use a repeater system you will need to know both the input and output frequencies.  Assistance is available to help determine your frequency range needed.  Please email us with as many details as possible before you make your purchase.

Our tests include the antenna checked on a portable held in the hand in front of the user’s mouth, and on a portable using a belt clip carried on the hip.  All tests must pass for the antenna to be released for sale.

The retuning of the  C70 antenna achieves a minimum signal gain of +3 dB that will effectively double your transmit and receive signal power due to the very low VSWR and excellent 50 ohm impedance match as compared to any untuned antenna.  Our retuning also allows for a much smaller antenna height without any loss of performance by eliminating all of the unused space inside the antenna covering.

Our antenna meets all of the following technical criteria;

·        Must be a new known-brand antenna and not a cheap junk or aftermarket Look-a-Like copy from China.

·        Be as short as physically possible for a low profile with great communications range.

·        Must be professional looking on the portable radio

·        Exhibit an excellent resonance with a very low VSWR of 1.5:1 or less over the whole frequency range.

·        Use a special 1/4-36 threaded stud to properly fit the DMR portable radios listed above.

·        Must maintain all specifications over the temperature range of -10 to +120 degrees Fahrenheit.

It is a fact that the most important part of any radio communications is the antenna system.  The antenna is the device on a radio that converts RF power into radio waves during transmit and radio waves into RF power on receive.  All transmitted and received signals must pass through the antenna system for any radio to work.  A respected radio engineer once said, “If you had 100 dollars, invest 99 dollars in the antenna system and 1 dollar in the radio and you will always have great communications”.  After many years of our own experience we have found that this statement to be true especially for today’s FM narrowband radio communications. We have witnessed portable radios worth thousands of dollars using cheap OEM antennas get beat out performance wise by users with radios one forth the cost using our fine-tuned antennas.

VSWR is the efficiency measurement ratio of RF power that is being converted into radio waves by the antenna system as compared to the RF power that is not converted and reflected back into the radio as wasted energy.

A VSWR of 1.5:1 has been and is still the customary maximum upper limit used in professional land mobile radio communications to determine a good efficient transfer of RF power.

Any VSWR above 1.6:1 is poor and any VSWR above 2:1 is definitely really BAD for the performance and the long term health of the radio RF power output amplifier.  Sadly many companies that manufacture products in China now use a VSWR of 2:1 as their good reference point to market their poor quality products and make them appear to be way better than what they actually are.

We do not recommend using a standard remote speaker mic (RSM) along with our custom tuned stubby antenna since the speaker mic coiled cord will physically block most of the stubby antenna performance.  Portable radio antennas need plenty of clear space in all horizontal directions to work best.  However, if you absolutely must use a RSM with your radio the best choice would be to tie wrap the coiled cord to go in an immediate downward direction close to where it exits the radio accessory connector to avoid blocking the stubby antenna signal.

FYI, a tuned antenna is NOT made to operate outside of the advertised tuned frequency range.  Outside of the tuned frequency range the antenna will definitely not work properly if at all.  So do not purchase a UHF antenna and then complain that it does not work with poor range on any other frequencies or bands.  Ask us for help before purchasing if you are not confident.

We have built tens of thousands custom tuned antennas for our customers with excellent results and zero defects.  Our company has over 30 years of experience in creating high performance and cost effective antenna solutions.

TERMS and CONDITIONS:

a. We will not be held liable for performance problems caused by any antenna being used outside of their tuned frequency range or due to the wrong antenna frequency range chosen by the buyer.  It is the buyer’s responsibility to verify what specific UHF frequencies or the UHF frequency range is needed.  A UHF antenna will definitely NOT work at all in the 140-174 MHz or 700/800 MHz frequency ranges.  Just because the antenna fits and looks great on your radio does not mean that it will work properly.  Matching the antenna tuned frequency range to your radio frequencies is extremely important,
