Albany bottlebrush  is endemic to the southwest of Western Australia. Vivid, bright scarlet-red 'brushes' adorn this attractive and compact shrub, which is an iconic plant well-recognised in Australia and increasingly in gardens throughout the world.

This shrub grows to 3.5 m (10 ft) tall with hard, fibrous bark. Its leaves are arranged alternately and are 40–128 mm (2–5 in) long, flat, mostly narrow egg-shaped with a mid-vein. The flowers are bright red and arranged in spikes on the ends of branches which continue to grow after flowering.  Easy to grow, hardy and adaptable, the shrubs provide a haven for wildlife and birds.
