1.0mm (0.040") thick
1.25mm thick stock is better for fingerboard inlays as the radius of the fingerboard will not make the edges too thin. It is also suitable for inlaying other parts. 1.0mm is mainly for headstock inlays and inlays in other flat areas of an instrument.
White mother of pearl is the standard inlay material for the fingerboards of guitars and other stringed instruments. It is also used frequently for headstock logos and decorations. It has a white to silver colour and great iridescence. These blanks can be cut to shape using a fine jewellers saw. The blanks vary in size and shape and there is enough in one ounce for an elaborate inlay.
