First Edition, First Printing Beautiful crisp near fine book with the scarce original first edition, first state dust jacket. The book is in extraordinary condition considering that many children’s book are usually found “well loved and read”.
The book is clean, crisp beautiful condition with blue cloth boards, with bright unfaded gilt titles to spine and front. The book has sharp corners with one tiny tip bump, and no edgewear. The binding is tight and square. The pages are clean, with no owner names, no bookplates and no bookstore stamps, offsetting to the end papers are typical with this title. The interior pages are clean, bright and flat with No handling marks, No stains, No writing, No bent pages, and No foxing with the book internally appearing as unread. Bright gilt to the top of the page block as issued. First trade edition, second issue with the page number ix present in the preliminaries. In copies of the first issue the contents leaf (ix-x) is unnumbered. Beautiful fresh, clean, highly collectible example of this title. Please see images.
The scarce original dust jacket has benefited from slight restoration to the top spine tip only by an expert paper conservator and as such presents as a near fine example. The jacket has an overall bright presentation with vibrant colors with a slight sunning to the spine, otherwise the jacket has no rips, no chips, no edgewear, no fading, and no rubbing. The jacket is the first state of the first edition showing the correct blurbs to the inner flaps and the 7/6 Net price to the spine. A beautiful example of this fragile dust jacket.
