a fine full-size facsimile of the rare manuscript of the Arabic poetry
anthology Al-Zahrah fī al-’adab by Ibn Dā’ūd al-Iṣfahānī (d. 294/909),
leader of the Ẓāhirite school of law. The manuscript, held in the
Biblioteca Reale in Turin (Italy), is the only extant complete copy of
the work, in that it includes one hundred chapters about the theory of
love.
In his introduction Ibn Dā’ūd states that he intended to write one
hundreds chapters, each containing one hundred lines of poetry. In fifty
among these chapters, the author intended to mention love with its
features, rules, vicissitudes and examples; whereas in the remaining
fifty chapters he illustrated the other genres of poetry
.
نشر صور عن المحطوطة العربية الاسلامية النادرة "الزهرة في الأدب" لابن
داوود الاصفهاني. كان محمد بن داوود بن على بن خلف الاصفهاني، الذي توفى
سنة 294 هـ (909 مـ)، فقيها ظاهريا مشهورا.
المخطوطة في المكتبة الملكية بتورينو وتعتبر النسخة الوحيدة في العالم التي
تضم كل الأبواب المئة عن تنظير الحب العفيف. كذلك يقول ابن داوود
الاصفهاني في مقدمة عمله:
"وهو كتاب سميته كتاب الزهرة واستودعته ماية باب ضمنت كل باب ماية بيت اذكر
في خمسين بابا منها جهات الهوى واحكامه وتصاريفه واحواله واذكر في الخمسين
الثانية افانين الشعراء الباقية".

Al-Zahrah fi-l-‘adab, l’antologia poetica di Ibn Da’ud figlio di Ali
figlio di Halaf al-Isfahani, famoso giurista zahirita, morto nel 294
dell’egira (909 d.C.). Il manoscritto è conservato nella Biblioteca
Reale di Torino ed è l’unico manoscritto al mondo a comprendere tutti i
cento capitoli sulla teorizzazione dell’amor cortese. Così l’autore
nell’introduzione inquadra l’argomento: Questo è un libro che ho
intitolato Zahrah e che ho suddiviso in cento capitoli, inserendo in
ognuno di essi cento versi. In cinquanta di questi cento capitoli ho
ricordato gli aspetti dell’amore, le sue regole, le sue vicissitudini, i
suoi casi; negli altri cinquanta ho ricordato tutti gli altri generi
poetici.
