HOW TO GROW

CHINA DOLL TREES

 Step 1

Preferably use a sterile peat medium.

Seeds should be sown at least 2cm apart

and directly on to moistened surface!  You can cover with

vermiculite to allow some light to penetrate to the seeds,

but keep them moist at the same time!

China Doll seeds need light to activate germination.

These seeds MUST stay moist at all times, drying

out of the medium (peat/soil) will kill them.

Note: They are also prone to rot, using an

additive to your medium like BANROT

can aid with this.

Step 2

A warm greenhouse is an ideal location

for germination.  Alternatively cover pot/s with

plastic wrap or glass (this will keep warmth

and humidity inside pot and also help retain

moisture).

Optimal  soil temperature for germination

is a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius /

80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once germination begins at approximately

2-4 weeks in optimal conditions, if covered

with plastic wrap or glass etc, expose

some of the pot to allow air circulation

and assist seedlings in adapting to

its future conditions.

Step 3

China Dolls can be transplanted  when they

reach approximately 3".  Use a granular fertiliser

at this time also.

Best grown indoors and trimmed to

ensure plant/s doesn’t grow taller than 6 feet.

Can be grown outdoors if temperatures

are consistently above 15 degrees Celsius.

Keep watered and position in sunlight

for at least 4 hours per day.

Step 4

The final resting position should be in

full sun if planted outdoors.

China Dolls can begin flowering in 2-3 years.
