This gorgeous jewel is an original Georgian artisan cut steel and electric blue sapphire paste cabochon buckle dating to the 18th Century.

The buckle clasps at the center and was worn as a gorgeous adornment at the waist of an 18th century gown.

You can see how each section of this amazing piece has been riveted together on the reverse and every facet of the cut steel crafted by hand.

The blue is more electric than the photos show and just a little darker. I wold best describe the color of the cabochons in person as that of a good Kashmir sapphire.

It would make the most exquisite accessory for a special wedding ensemble.

This buckle when clasped together measures 3 1/2" wide and is 1 13/16" tall.

Each electric blue paste glass cabochon is 5/32" in diameter approximately.

It weighs 29.7 grams approximately.

At magnification there is some age appropriate patina to the cut steel very fine surface oxidation to the steel all consistent with a genuine antique from the period. The buckle is ready to gift or to wear.

Looking at this astonishing Georgian accessory you can't help but imagine the places it has been.....the parties.....! It is from another time and a world away and apart from ours.

We will ship this special buckle in a presentation box ready for gifting and for safe keeping.
