Traditionally, such antiquity like the jewelry box, elaborately handcrafted
by craftsmen was used in high class society in Korea.
It has been crafted by Korean ancient technique called ‘NajeonChilgi’,
sort of lacquerware inlaid with mother of pearl.
‘Najeonchilgi’ is made by attaching shell patterns crafted with abalone, conch
and mother of pearl nacre to the lacquered surface of a ware and lacquering repeatedly over the inlay.
