Antique primitive Asian wooden teak box. Constructed from teak wood and iron hardware this primitive storage chest retains its original iron lock, handles and hinges. The six roundels on the front and three on top are perhaps decorative rather than functional. Typical of 19th century Asian (Chinese or Indonesian) style and construction employing hand cut butterfly joints and hand forged hardware. The simplicity of these pieces as well as the sturdiness of the material make them a great functional piece of furniture even now.
This would make a great addition to a kids room as a treasure/toy chest or as a catch all storage container for leads, remote controls and general household items. Decoratively this would make a great addition to your Victorian style home decor.

This chest is in good working condition. there is a crack along the base of the piece (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
