This original Leica MP XXX black camera is one of the finest Leica cameras of all time. This is an original BLACK PAINT MP camera with the matching Summicron 50mm f2 Ridged scalloped focusing ring lens. Also has its original black paint Leicavit MP winder. Rarely seen, this is the most coveted, and probably the most beautiful Leica camera of all time. This is an original Leica MP with the rabbit year triangular lugs, M3 style top plate with the double stroke advance. M2 style counter. Framelines for 50/90/135mm. Stamped on the top MP # XXX and also marked on the inside shutter crate with the matching number MP XXX. Originally made for photojournalist, the P for "professional". Produced in 1956-1957, in very limited quantities. Production #1 to the last record of delivery registered was #402. Of those, only 138 were in black paint making it one of the most limited vintage cameras of all time. Chrome MP have been sold on record recently for well over $100,000-$125,000 and black MP anywhere from $400,000 to upwards of $500,000. This is a golden opportunity for THE FINEST Leica camera ever made. The camera has been documented by Leica to be original with minor leatherette repair. Original top plate, body housing, chassis and parts with a CLA done to the camera in the 1970's. Still bares its LEICA L seal from then. Over the decades there has been a very minor amount of haze in the viewfinder but that is normal for a camera that has not been touched for 40+ years. There is also some signs of use on the black finish but overall in great condition considering. Has some superficial lines on the black paint. The camera has been black lighted and has the proper L seal and no touch ups on the black paint. This is the real deal. A fine opportunity and a wonderful piece of history. The separation of super high end collectible cameras have shown to be a sure investment since post war, and especially over the last 5-10 years. Special commodities such as these are not only a BLUE CHIP stock but also attracting new, wealthier clients. This camera is not only a product of history, but the foundation that shape our existence of photography, photojournalism, news and society today. The images that this camera must have captured and the stories that this camera could tell if it could speak. I can not stress the importance, beauty and pleasure that one gets when owning this camera. A rare opportunity for a true piece of 20th century history and a must for any collector or enthusiast.
