This is an original CD longbox from the 80's/90's, not a reproduction. Box only, no disc or jewel cases. This is not a new item. Although it has been in safe storage for many years, it does show its age from being opened and stored. Signs of age can include torn bottom edges, warping, or creases. Some will still have their shrinkwrap, store stickers or promo stickers. Any glares or wrinkling seen in the pics are most likely from the plastic. If it does have the plastic, it most likely has shrunk over time, causing the box to warp. Box comes from a pet-free and smoke-free home. Images are of the actual item for sale. Please see pics for detail.

The longbox is a form of exterior paperboard packaging for musical compact discs, used in the 1980s and early 1990s in North America. When compact discs first began to appear in the retail stores, the longbox packaging served a transitional purpose, allowing shops to file new compact discs in the same bins originally used for vinyl records. Longboxes are 12" tall. Most longboxes were full color, with details about the compact disc on the back, and artwork that was frequently taken from the original square album cover art, reworked for the new shape and size. Longboxes were also considered environmentally wasteful and were expensive to produce. They didn't last long in the retail music environment.
