VINTAGE 1930'S WHITING'S SUPERIOR BISCUITS PRESSED & PAINTED TIN
BOX, W/LID & ORIGINAL GLASS
FRONT VIEWING WINDOW
Circa 1920's-1930's
There are a few minor scratches and abrasions to the surface of this very nice and quite rare Whiting's Superior Biscuits tin biscuit store display box but that appears to be it. The glass is unbroken. The lid has a 'push' or a slight indentation from most probably other objects being placed upon it. The tin box is a fabulous early 20th century store display and was no doubt used to retrieve biscuits often everyday by the buying public. This Whiting's Superior Biscuit tin box was most likely positioned on a store's counter top for easy retrieval by customers of its contents, accessed by a hinged, flip-latched tin clasp on the front. It has no significant rusting and the bottom is completely intact. The glass has only been cleaned, otherwise it is still in 'as-found' original vintage condition and has been left largely alone and untouched. There is also some minor paint flaking on the front of the box. Imagine this vintage beauty on your bar or kitchen countertop? It would instantly bring nostalgic and period charm. Biscuits anyone? Awesome.
