The exact same type of insulation found in vintage Gibson Les Pauls and other guitars, amps, radios, and electronics between the 1940s and through the 1950s and even into the 1960s in some cases. Real USA-made varnished glass fiber tubing.

Being hand-made, color and texture can have some slight variation. This is true to the vintage material and just the nature of the way it's made.

These little sections seem awfully expensive, until you know how it's made. The glass fibers, boiling dyes, and the varnish that has to be built up in many coats are all extremely unhealthy and messy things to be working with. This insulation has to be made in little 6-12" sections, threaded onto very thin steel rods, and each piece rotated every 30-45 minutes while the varnish is applied and dries, otherwise the insulation will close in on itself, glue itself to the rods that hold it, and all the varnish will drip to one side, giving an unevenly coated result. When you try making it yourself, you'll realize this price is a steal. If you don't care about authentic, there are other options out there that are much cheaper and, electrically, far superior insulators.
