F. LOREE PARIS OBOE SERIAL #FF98  this oboe belonged to Edson Weiss  he played with the J.P.Sousa band
I have found information on him in a book (The Incredible Band of John Philip Sousa By Edmund Bierley) on page 47 I found a picture of E. Weiss holding this oboe. He was a very tall man in the second row right behind John P. Sousa.
I found Japanese Script Carved in to all joints That seem to translate to some thing like Semper fidelis  The first part was translated to ( Ever lasting faith  and the last to fighting force)  I found it odd it would be in Japanese.
I found and repaired one small hair line crack in the bell. other than that  this oboe is crack free! The bore looks excellent no scratches or water lines.   Restored to excellent playing condition, The body is made entirely of Grenadilla wood.  All wood has been treated with my bore oil treatment.  All keys were removed cleaned and polished.
