The Game of Go by Michael Stanfield MS 1981 complete game VINTAGE

Description :

Go is a board game of skill for two players. Which can be played and enjoyed with no more knowledge than the basic rules, which take only a few minutes to learn. Those who choose to take the game more seriously will find limitless scope for study and creative imagination.

In those countries where it is already well known, such as China, Japan and Korea, it is played by millions of men, women and children of all ages occupations, and enjoys far more popularity than any comparable game such as Chess does in any Western country.

Another attractive feature is a simple handicapping system which enables two players of widely differing levels of proficiency to enjoy a game on equal terms.

Go is rapidly gaining enthusiasts in Britain and other European countries, and it seems likely that it will soon be as popular here as it already is in the Far East.

Features :

Go is played on a board ruled with 19 x 19 horizontal and vertical lines (see Diagram 1).

Play takes place on the 361 points of intersection of the lines and not on the squares as in Western games.

Circular black and white men called “stones” are used - about 180 of each are needed.

Contents:

1 game base

361 wooden playing pieces (180-180)
