DIY Audiophile Series, PROGRAM #1: How to Make Your Own Chokes, Power and Output (Audio)Transformers for Valve (Tube) Amplifiers

This unique video/DVD workshop is a "must have" for all serious audiophiles and DIY constructors who want to build their own high-end vacuum tube (valve) audio amplifiers and transformers.

Make your own power supply chokes. Wind your own power transformers, with the exact voltages required by the circuit. Learn the secrets of winding first-class output transformers for valve (tube) amplifiers!

WHAT"S COVERED?

·       What insulation materials to use?

·       How to convert the electrical diagram into a winding diagram?

·       How to sectionalize the primary and secondary windings on the output transformers to achieve optimal results without making the windings too complex and hard to wind?

·       How to determine the size of the air gap?

·       How to “glue” the transformer laminations together?

These are just some of the important questions you’ll find answers to in this eye-opening workshop!

WHAT"S NOT COVERED?

This DVD program is NOT about designing transformers, only about making them once you have the design and the winding diagram. We have a transformer design manual listed on ebay that covers all the theory and calculations involved in the design of chokes (power supply filtering chokes, grid- and plate-chokes), power and audio transformers (interstage and output transformers for tube amps and preamps).

More than 3 hours of video on 3 DVD discs, PAL format, region-free.

Comes with a A4-sized printed manual with photos, explanations and all flip charts used in the video!

NOTE: Although in this DVD program we focus on making transformers for hi-fi tube amplifiers, you can use the same techniques to make transformers for guitar tube amps. The output transformers for guitar amps are actually easier and faster to make, there is no need to sectionalize windings as in hi-fi transformers, since only a limited frequency range is needed. Chokes and power transformers for guitar amps are made in exactly the same way!

Discs are region-free (not locked in any specific region), but ONLY PAL version is available. Most DVD players can play both PAL and NTSC, but not all. If you are in USA, Canada, Korea or any other NTSC country, please make sure that your player can play PAL discs. Most can!
