These showstopping natural unheated untreated ruby and sparkly diamond dome earrings hail from the 1950s and look just like they have come from a glamorous silver screen movie.

Certainly worthy of any international red carpet event these are larger dome earrings with high carat weight.

They are one of a kind- completely handmade. No other like them in the world.

On the reverse they are marked 18K.

Each beautiful diamond and red ruby set dome measures approximately 7/8" long by 9/16" wide by 7/16" high (22.3mm x 15.1mm x11.5mm). These measurements do not include the earring backs just the ruby and diamond dome clusters.

The total no heat natural ruby weight is 4.46 carats.

In total there is 10.82 carats of precious gems in these luxury 1950s earrings.

They are in excellent condition and are ready to gift or to wear.

The sparkle in person by far exceeds the photos.

A full appraisal accompanies the earrings.

They shall be sent in a presentation box for safe keeping.

Fine quality unheated untreated rubies are rare and valuable stones and worth much more than heated or treated rubies. Glass filled or beryllium treated or diffused rubies are of very low quality and value.

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are undesirable and such treated stones are of very low value.

The photos form part of the description of these exceptional ruby and diamond earrings. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
