Details: Original crayon drawing on artist's board by Reynolds Beal (1867-1951). Titled "Rockport", signed, dated in the lower left hand corner in pencil. This piece depicts a scene from the harbor where he ended up dying in 1951. The use of color is wonderful. Simply framed behind glass and matted.

Biography of Artist: Reynolds Beal was considered to be one of America's finest impressionist artists. He lived his life in Gloucester and Massachusetts being an avid sailor and painter, known for his ability to capture movement of air and quality of light. Founder of the Society of Independent Artists as well as the New Society of Artists, which consisted of fifty of the most important painters of the day, including George Bellows, Childe Hassam, Maurice Prendergast, John Sloan, and William Glackens. Beal was also chosen to be one of the few American artists to exhibit in the Luxembourg Museum in Paris in 1919, which was a rare honor at that time.
