HOW TO GROW

KANGAROO PAW

NOTE:

This species is responsive to smoke treatment, although

it is not necessary it can speed up germination. Smoke paper

or granular mixes for seeds can be purchased online.

Step 1

Fill tray or small pots with a well draining seed raising mix or

native flower soil mix. Sow 1 cm deep and space approximately

1 inch apart. Moisten with a spray bottle to avoid disturbing the

seeds. Place into a warm, shaded or part shaded position

and keep moist but not wet!

Ideal temperature for germination is 20°C/70°F

Seeds will germinate between 3-6 weeks in the correct

conditions.

Step 2

Seedlings can be transplanted if needed once around

1 inch in height. When transplanting once again use a native

flower soil mix or other well draining soil mix (add propagating

sand if needed to improve drainage).

Step 3

Final location should be full sun to dappled shade,

plant out in spring once the weather warms up.

Kangaroo Paw is suitable for keeping in pots.

Kangaroo Paw takes 6-12 months to flower.

If needing to use a fertiliser, preferably use one for native

plants which are low in phosphorus.
