Exquisite Victorian Quality RARE Zeus Cameo Brooch

Here is the most exquisite victorian rare zeus cameo brooch. The brooch is large measuring two & a quarter inches by two & threequarter inches & is all set in a fabulous rich yellow gold mount, which looks to be pinchbeck. The mount is really quite fabulous with a pierced twisted section & then quality scolls to the four corners. Inset is the most stunning shell cameo of Zeus, in the most incredible detail, & very highly carved & a real piece of amazing high quality workmanship & i have never seen an example of this subject so highly carved. On the back is a pin & Cclasp working well although the pin is a replacement & it also comes complete with a bail for attatching a safety chain and dates very clearly to the victorian era & as with age, there has been a repair to the edge of the cameo, but this is not on the carving itself & there is a glue mark, but this repair has been done a very long time ago, and is quite difficult to see, so i certainly dont think this detracts, but see pics & just mentioned for total accuracy. However this is the most exquisite highly carved cameo in very good origional complete condition & a very rare collectable example of this subject.
