Description: 2 volumes. 1941. Classic commentary on the Bible by the Chief Rabbi of Great Britain in the beginning of the last century. It has been translated into German, Hungarian and Hebrew, which is quite unusual for a commentary. This set of books translates the bible and adds annotations and commentary for further clarification. Excellent collection of 'Additional notes' in the back of each of the five books of the Pentateuch. There Rabbi Hertz illuminates his views from the standpoint of the Scientific point of view and the realm of the Bible critics, which is always a fascinating comparison. This took Dr. J. H. Hertz many years to complete. In this edition is added the Haftorahs for the Holidays and fast days which were not present in earlier editions.
