Here is a scarce and HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE “1008 Construction Battalion Detachment (1008 Seabee Detachment) Tour of Duty Solomon Islands, July 1943 * May 1945.”  As stated on the copyright page, “Photography, Layout and History In This Book Made Up Entirely By Personnel Of The 1008 Construction Battalion Detachment.” This book was published in 1946  by the 1008 Publication Committee.

This was found at the estate of a WWII Navy Veteran, whose name is imprinted on the front cover (see photos) and who is listed as a “Subscriber” in the subscriber section of this book.

This book comes with its original mailing box and VERY COOL label and original “accounting sheet.”! Additionally, the two 10” x 13” (1 black and white and 1 color) photographs were in the book and in the box were the 10 ORIGINAL 4” x 6” black and white photographs. I am not sure where the 4” x 6” photographs are from but they are certainly of this time period and quite possibly taken at the Solomon Islands as this Veteran did travel through the Pacific on his way to Occupied Japan after the war.

Book measures 10 1/2” x 13 1/4” and contains 114 pages.

CONDITION: Other than a slight crease on the title page, this book is in EXCELLENT CONDITION! Looks like it was hardly read. It was found in its original box with the two 10” x 13” photos, the accounting sheet and the 10 original 4” x 6” photographs. Box has some wear but label is AWESOME. All photographs in very good condition. GEMS ALL AROUND!!
