A sterling silver serving fork made by J.E. Caldwell in Philadelphia perhaps in the latter part of the 19th or early part of the 20th century.  Originally intended for lettuce, it could also be used for serving meat or other items.  J.E. Caldwell started as a silversmith in 1839 and opened up one of the finest silver stores in Philadelphia.  The stores were in existence until 2009.  It is in very good vintage condition with normal wear.  There are no monograms.  It is 9 3/8" in length.
