DESCRIPTION:

Very supple, soft tanned leather and with nearly unscathed crimson red leather piping trim and reflective black leather surfaces. The two curvilinear brass left and right end caps of the bag still maintain their original brass patina and rivets, fastening the brass to the leather body of the bag, are largely absent of dings, dents, discoloration, significant scuffs or abrasions. The front leather flap of the bag has an affixed brass double cannon with a pineapple coat of arms. This is also without any damage. There's also another brass oval medallion and strap adjustment buckle on the red leather and cream colored wool shoulder strap, with the medal having a Medieval helmet, battle shield and crisscrossed cannons. The maker's cloth label is still present on the interior lining of the bag. Produced between the mid-1950's to mid-1960's, this faux military field bag has too much specific period military information to be just a fashionable period, vintage women's leather handbag and a contemporary women's apparel fashion element. It was most likely a reproduction of a late 18th-early 19th century European military reenactment field bag and then later reconsidered as a contemporary women's fashion element. In simply great condition and with a great look. There's some minor staining on the strap, some minor leather loss at the back along the red piping's extreme edges but otherwise demonstrates normal leather wear and original aged brass patina. There's also some minor fraying or loose thread on the opening upper liner. What are you stepping out with tonight over your shoulder? Do yourself a favor, don't go for the same old, same old boring shoulder bag, draw attention to what you have on with this gorgeous vintage beauty slung over your shoulder. You'll have everyone else the next weekend culling thrift shops and used clothing boutiques in search of one comparable. Terrific.
