This Ebay listing is for a Wholesale Lot of 10 Special Olympics sets, with 9 coins in each set, as follows...
Central Bank of Ireland, Special Olympics World Games Ireland 2003 Coin Set.
Nine Piece set includes one each the regular 2003 Irish euro
denominated coins, 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, 1 Euro, and 2 Euro, all
showing the Irish harp on the obverse and the common euro designs on the
reverse. Included is a special commemorative 5 Euro coin. Coins are
well struck and carefully selected uncirculated strikes. 35,000 sets issued. An additional 25,000 single 5 Euro single Commemorative coins were issued.
It might be noted the mintages of the 1 and 2 euro coins in this set were particularly low,
with only 2.6 million 2 euro, and 2.5 million 1 euro coins reported
released. These numbers are very low compared to the 2002 releases of
90.5 million and 135.2 million, making these low mintage coins
attractive to put away.
The Five Euro coin and this specially
packaged set were issued to commemorate Ireland's hosting of the 2003
Special Olympics World Summer Games. The Five Euro coin design is by
Mrs. Veronica McCallion and Mrs. Tricia Holbrook of the Central Bank of
Ireland, working with "The Power of 7". It incorporates the games logo
along with the required details for commemorative euro coins. The
reverse has the Irish harp dividing EIRE and 2003 reading inward, with
12 five-pointed stars about, one for each of the original European Union
nations. The co-operation of the Special Olympics World Games
organizing committee was obtained for the issue of this coin. This coin
was launched on 15 April 2003 at the Central Bank of Ireland Head
Office, in Dame Street, Dublin.
