Electra
Malone (1911-1992) was a Texas artist known for her oils and
watercolors in the realist and post-impressionist styles, especially landscapes and Southwestern
motifs. She studied art at the University of Texas at Austin and
North Texas State University, and she taught painting classes at
Southern Methodist University during the 1960’s and 1970’s. For a time
in the late 1960’s she was also President of the Southwest Watercolor
Society in Dallas, Texas. It has been reported that President Lyndon
Johnson liked her work and that some of her pieces were displayed in the
White House during his administration.
