Frequently Asked Questions

Rifle Skin
Why won't the vinyl stick to the surface of my gun?
You must thoroughly clean the gun before installing the wrap. Use a gun-specific degreaser and a small brush, scrubing all recessed areas to remove oil and dirt. Wipe clean using a lint-free cloth or rinse with warm water and let air dry.
Can the wrap be removed?
Rifle Skins are removable and have no effect on the finish. To remove, heat the material with a heat gun/blow dryer and peel off piece by piece.
Is it waterproof?
The high-performance vinyl is non-porous, which means that the material creates an air-tight seal that also prevents water from getting in or out. As a matter of fact, GunSkins are completely waterproof.
Will heat from the barrel melt the vinyl?
The heat from the barrel will not affect the material. However, we do not recommend wrapping the barrel if you fire using full auto or use a suppressor.

Step by Step Installation Instructions

Rifle Skin

Clean the Surface.

Use a gun-specific degreaser and a small brush to work away all dirt, oil, lubrication, and residue. Rubbing alcohol is a good last step to remove moisture, but alone is not strong enough to cut through gun oil.

A clean gun makes for a clean install.

Rifle Skin

Peel and Stick.

Peel the material off the template, one piece at a time. Place it centered on the surface and work it in using your fingers.

If need to, peel off and reposition until you are satisfied with the placement.

Rifle Skin

Heat and Trim.

Use a heat gun or blow dryer to get the vinyl to conform to the shape of the gun. Take your time and work away wrinkles and air bubbles.

Use a sharp hobby knife to trim away excess material. Overlap the extra and press firmly to set. Heat again to finish.
