Hammocks
and Chinchorros are a wonderful treasure, a sophisticated form of rest, BEDS
ARE PORTABLE AND HANGING filled with comfort and colorful, made with
multicolored threads of high resistance by Wayuu Venezuelan and Colombian, made
entirely by hand; They are beds where you can relax, socialize, sleep. Hammocks
and Chinchorro are an icon for the Wayuu culture, a culture that has invaded
thousands of homes worldwide, households have been privileged to acquire this masterpiece
and have realized how fascinating it is to have them at home.

Hammocks
and Chinchorros are made by hand and can take from 2-6 months the workmanship;
they are divided into 4 parts.
1)
Central body: is the fundamental
piece of tissue and can develop on 3 styles or braided gut Kayülainsü Sui and
this in turn can be Kayülainse and Pittouya. Sui Ke'inñasü ridges or it can be
simple or duplex (double-sided) the latter, called Spider or Patu'uwasü when
the ridges are not straight but are drawings and Sui Paliraasü SUNA that
combines the two.
2) The
head: it is a grid of diamonds and hexagons that ends the ends of the hammock.
Headers cords ending in a small handle that are attached to the cabuyera using
a secure and firm but very easy to undo the knot.
3) The
cabuyera: is a strong piece that is attached to the head and is where the hammock
is hung. They measure 50 to 70 cm long and between 10 and 20cm in width
depending on the size of the head and can carry 16 to 50 rings in warping.

4) The
fringe: is a long fabric made entirely or crochet hook that can measure between
30 and 50 cm wide. Each wheel requires one month for processing. These designs
are geometric or floral shapes.
