Saint Georges Cross - The flag of England is derived from Saint George's Cross. A Symbol of English Identity & Patriotism.
Associated with the crusades, the red-on-white cross has its
origins in the 12th century
There was a tradition claiming that
Richard the Lionheart himself adopted both the flag and the patron saint at
some point during his crusade.
Red crosses seem to have been used as a distinguishing mark
worn by English soldiers from the reign of Edward I (1270s),or perhaps slightly
earlier, in the Battle of Evesham of 1265.
Whilst not so obvious as the Scottish Saltire or the Welsh Dragon we are seeing a rise of English nationalism, and why not if you are English show it!
Truly patriotic symbol wear it with pride.
