Beautifully carved  hardstone-possibly agate- large antique snuff bottle. The different coloured striations of the stone, from lemon yellow, through amber to dark chocolate, are shown off to full advantage both in the shape of the bottle and the carved five-petalled flower on one side, which carries on to the other  side with a tendril and several leaves. The stopper is a lovely, translucent light and dark amber colour, with a small piece of wood to fix in place.

Unsigned, but bought at a house-clearance so confident it dates to the early-mid 20th century and is not a modern reproduction. Approximate measurements; H 8.25cms x W 5.5 cms at widest point x D 4cms. Total weight, 255g.

A unique and lovely piece for a collector or someone who just enjoys beautiful things!

Postage will be by Royal Mail Special Delivery to ensure adequate insurance cover. They are  relatively high due to the significant weight of the bottle.
