 DESCRIPTION:
Recently discovered in a mid-century home on the South Shore of Massachusetts is this really terrific trio of turned teak and brass wax reservoir topped Modernist vintage signed candlesticks, designed by Rakel Wayersvang of Norway, circa 1950-1956. They haven't been chemically cleaned but only gently dusted and wiped down with 100% organic teak oil (not containing petroleum distillates) applied to restore moisture to the conical teak cone bases. The brass wax reservoir tops still feature their naturally oxidized brass patina. One of the candlesticks still has an affixed paper label to its underside. All 3 candlesticks are branded and stamped with the maker's mark 'RW, Norway' on their bases. They have simple, reduced, Minimalist form, with the turned teak cone bases representing one of the basic forms in nature, a topped off triangle. They only suffer the slightest and smallest bruises or nicks to their exterior sidewalls. Clean and very sharp. Minimalist beauties.
