DESCRIPTION:
With Manes Lichtenberg original 1959 exhibition embossed paper gallery invitation, with several hand-written inscriptions on the back of the wooden strecher (the title, date & original asking price of $750.00) (*See photos for details)
CONDITION:
Fair to Good overall vintage condition. The painting appears to have had a diagonal abrasion (about two to three inches in length) but not an actual tear (break in the fine linen canvas fabric) going across nearly the middle of the painting, which at some point in time, appears to have been professionally repaired or at least remedied, to the point and degree of where from any measurable distance away from the painting, this intervention and previous surface repair to the oil paint film, is barely, if at all noticeable. It's still a magnificent period Modernist oil painting on canvas by the well-listed American artist Manes Lichtenberg. With absolutely striking color and with the kind of atmospheric establishment and light of a coastal seascape, that only an experienced and virtuoso artist could pull off. Very fine.
