International Watch Co. IWC Caliber 88 9k Gold SOLD

This is a truly timeless IWC dress watch in solid 9K gold housing the famous high grade caliber 88 movement.  The large 34mm wide case is quite heavy and has a clean sharp presence on the wrist. The dial does have tiny dot patina evenly this also give the watch an unmistakable vintage feel.  Anyone who knows IWC watches will come to expect superb engineering and top class craftsmanship which is certainly present in this beautiful example.  

Style: Mid-Century Dress

Circa: 1957

Case: Heavy solid 9k gold 3-piece snap back case with simple horn style lugs and wide bezel.  Measures 34mm in diameter excluding the crown and comes with 17mm leather strap.  This is an all original IWC timepiece, but the imported Swiss movement was cased in the UK and therefore stamped inside the back with the case British makers mark "D.S&S" and the hallmarks 9, and .375 to indicate 9k gold.  Also nicely inscribed on the back is "Presented by the Clayton Aniline Company Ltd. to J.Jones in recognition of 25 years faithful service, 1957."
 
Dial: Original factory dial with Arabic numbers, dot minute markers and small seconds at 6:00, signed International Watch Co. Swiss.  Still in excellent condition, nice patina small dots evenly as you can see in the pictures.  Looks superb on the wrist and also quite closely resembles the famous1993 IWC Portugeiser Jubilee in style.  Beautiful all original hands as well.

Movement:  Immaculate IWC caliber 88 manual wind movement with 17 Jewels, breguet overcoil hairspring and beautiful plate decoration in excellent working condition.  Signed International Watch Co. Swiss with a 1,301,782 serial number.
