the San Diego Chargers offenses of the late seventies and early
eighties were nearly unstoppable.

HERE'S THE HISTORY:
The Chargers were
founded in Los Angeles in 1959, and began play in 1960 as a charter
member of the American Football League (AFL). Due to competition from the Los Angeles Rams, the team moved 120 miles south to San Diego.
They spent their first
season in Los Angeles before relocating to San Diego in 1961 to become
the San Diego Chargers.
As
part of the AFL, the Chargers enjoyed high-scoring years from 1961 to
1965,
winning four AFL West titles and one AFL championship along the
way.
The team joined the NFL as a result of the AFL–NFL merger in 1970.

The Chargers moved back to Los Angeles after 56 seasons in San Diego, a
year after the Rams had moved back to LA
The RAMS had spent 21
seasons (1995–2015) in Saint Louis.
The City of San
Diego and Qualcomm Stadium was home to the Chargers for nearly five
decades before they moved to
Los Angeles after the 2016 NFL season.
