The AUSCB is also type approved to the Land Mobile Service (licensed private or commercial frequencies) covering 450-520Mhz, which means it has to be held to a higher technical standard than the average CB. You won't find that on a Digitech, Crystal, Oricom, Uniden or your average GME handheld.

The AUSCB is supported by a host of accessories and spares, that just aren't available for other similarly priced radios. We also think that the AUSCB it is a good looking radio.

Special mention:

Power On Voltage Indicator:  When turning on the radio, the LCD screen will briefly indicate the battery's voltage.

Automatic Battery Save:  The automatic battery save is one of the best in the business.  You wont even notice it, but you can get up to 30 hours of receive time, depending on how the radio is used.  Traffic Controllers tell us that they get all day out of the battery, even when doing 12hr shifts.

VOX:  Voice Activated Operation works when an external microphone is used, like a speaker-mike, for hands free operation.  VOX function is accessible through the keypad.

Quick channel access by numbered keypad - unlike most Australian handheld CB's that only have scroll buttons for up and down channels (80 channels is a lot to scroll through).

Receiver sensitivity:  <0.20uV @ 12dB SINAD (-121dBm).  In layman's terms that means really good, better than standard (to give an example - Crystal handhelds have a sensitivity of 0.35uV, Digitech & Oricom 0.28uV, and Icom a 0.25uV [standard]).

- AUSCB Compact Shoulder Microphone

This Compact and Lightweight Shoulder Speaker Microphone fits the AUSCB 5W 80CH UHF CB Handheld.

360 degree rotating lapel clip.


Allow VOX (Voice Activated Transmit) capability with the AUSCB.

Has a 3.5mm jack at the base for adding an earpiece if required.

Please note that the speaker volume is not as loud as the radio's own integral speaker, as it is intended to be used near the head - sometimes referred to as a lapel mike or collar mike.  May not be suitable for noisy environments.

- USB to 9VDC Charging Cable to suit AUSCB Charging Dock

Allows the Charging Dock to be used with a USB Port to charge the AUSCB 5W 80CH CB Handheld.

Contains it's own step up power module converter.

5V input, 9VDC 800mAh output (slightly higher amp output than many similar types).  

Please note that using the USB adapter to charge, may take a little longer than when using the 12-24V/9V Car Charger Adapter or Wall Adapter.  Charging to 97% is pretty quick, but the last 3% takes a somewhat longer due to the amperage required and available from a 5V USB port.

- Long Range UHF CB Antenna - suits AUSCB 5W 80CH UHF CB Handheld.

This flexible antenna is 330mm long and will improve both transmit and receive range, when compared to the standard antenna that is normally supplied with handheld CB radios, under the right conditions. Gain 3dBi.  SWR <1.5:1 @ 477Mhz.

Being ground independent - produces a low angle radiation pattern at this wavelength.

Non Type Approved Radios found on ebay:

Did you know that it is illegal to use or sell BAOFENG, PUXING, TYT, RETEVIS or WOUXUN Radios for CB or commercial use within Australia - radios that are typically found on ebay.  The Australian Media & Communications Authority (ACMA) can, and has, handed out large fines over these radios.  If you work in Traffic Control, you may also be in breach of WPHS for not using standards approved equipment, should a comms related incident occur.
