For sale is this recently discovered, estate fresh, early 20th century American folk art antique hooked rug of a resting sheep. In extremely clean, very well-preserved overall antique condition and perhaps even more importantly, it remains untouched and undisturbed, with nearly no color degradation, lightening and about as clean as these period, antique American folk art wool hooked rugs get. Incredibly beautiful. It was evidently tucked away for nearly a century, hidden away from the harmful effects of sunlight, playful pets and irreverent running children. This wonderful piece of Americana escaped a plethora of things that would have normally tried to grind it into bits of torn rags and subsequently dust, designating it for the trash heap of history and oblivion. Instead, nearly 100 years after its inception, it appears again, in all of its original colorful and naive, primitive splendor. Absolutely magnificent. A tremendous piece of early 20th century American folk art and simply a killer wool figurative antique hooked rug. As clean as a whistle. Gorgeous.
