This listing features a lovely bordered print of Peder Severin Kroyer's (1851-1909)
"Summer Evening on the South Beach of Skagen"
 painted in 1893.

Print measures 16 X 12 inches.

From the Skagens Museum collection in Copenhagen, Denmark, the original painting features a pair of women walking arm-in-arm on the beach on a summer evening, both dressed in period clothing. Colors of sunset reflected on their clothing and in the surf and sand make for a tranquil piece. The painting was inspired by a photograph that Kroyer took of friend Anna Ancher and the artist's wife strolling on Skagen's Southern Beach during the "blue hour", when the horizon is almost dissolved in the evening mist and dispersed blue light, reflected in the sea and sand.

Kroyer was one of the most notable members of the Danish art community known as the "Skagen painters".
His work often emphasizes the special effects of the Skagen light, especially in his beach scenes.
