Vintage Japanese coin purse...
This is one of a huge lot of vintage Japanese bags that we have acquired. Most were made in the 1960-70’s… when items like this were still made in Japan. This particular item was made in 1949 according to the date on the newspaper stuffer found inside.
This would be a lovely little purse to keep in your handbag for use when wearing a kimono but could also be used for everyday. It is made of calf leather printed in a paisley design. It has stainless trim, a sturdy fastener and is lined in purple velvet with a divider to create two compartments. It has never been used and comes in its original box & packaging. It has a tag that shows it was purchased at Saga Tamaya department Store in Kyushu.
It is in excellent condition with no apparent signs of use.
It measures:
5¼” or 13.5cm long
⅞” or 2cm thick
3” or 7cm high
MADE IN JAPAN
