Making Movies, registrato nel Giugno del 1980 presso il Power Station di New York, è il terzo album in studio realizzato dal complesso dei Dire Straits .L'album venne realizzato internazionalmente il 17 Ottobre del 1980 dalla Vertigo Records e dalla Warner Bros. Records per il mercato Statunitense (United States). L'album produsse il singolo "Romeo and Juliet" che raggiunse la posizione numero 8 nella classifica dei singoli nel Regno Unito (UK Singles Chart). L'album raggiunse la prima posizione in Italia e Norvegia, la posizione numero 19 negli Stati Uniti ed la posizione numero 4 nel Regno Unito. Making Movies fu certificato Platino negli Stati Uniti e Doppio-Platino nel Regno Unito.

Another technological breakthrough from Japan! These new, Japanese SHM ( Super High Material ) pressings utilize a special polycarbonate layer pits for better transparency and read-accuracy. Originally developed for LCD panels, the SHM technology was found to reduce read-errors on discs and thus incorporated into these special discs. And rest assured: These discs are mastered from the best sources available in Japan and will utterly amaze you with their transparency, dynamics, and lifelike presentation. SHM be played in a standard CD player.
