One HO Scale Victorian "Psycho" House Kit. Real-world footprint is roughly 5 1/4" wide by 6 1/2" deep by 5 1/4" tall. This house is loosely modeled after the house on the hill used in the movie "Psycho". We also offer a Roadside Motel Kit that resembles the "Bates Motel" from the same movie. The two kits work well together.
This is an unassembled and unpainted kit.
What you actually get is shown in the last picture (along with the instructions, assembly pictures, and 3D printed pieces ( staircases, railings, oval window, and a lot of extra stairs and sidewalk pieces)). Should you want to put it on a hill as in the movie “Psycho” you will have enough stairs and sidewalk pieces to get down to street level. We suggest that you place the motel at street level if you purchase that kit.
Although not included, you can wire the house for lighting. There is an opening for an LEDs in the porch ceiling. There is also an interior partition you can use to isolate the front upstairs bedroom (Mother’s room) so that light only shines out of two windows. The kit provides a printed sheet of curtains containing more than what is needed. One of those curtains is pulled back with a silhouette of “Mother” looking out. The pictures of the building illustrate what it looks like after assembly. These pictures merely illustrate one possible color scheme. You can paint yours to suit your needs (recommend painting before assembly).
Once again, this is a KIT. This is not a kit that simply snaps together quickly. This kit is designed to give a more realistic appearance than that offered by the snap-together kits and precast plastic buildings.
The main building parts of this kit are made from 1/16" and 1/32" task board (a highly compressed and structurally accurate cardboard material that works exceptionally well in the laser cutter). The siding is engraved. Rather than simple lines in the material, it is angled to be as realistic as possible. It paints
well, and you can paint your model whatever color you want. The corner trim and the
fencing on the roof are made with a material referred to as “Backer Board” which
is the basis for plastic laminates such as Formica. It is about 1/64” thick
and very stiff. This building kit has several fragile detail pieces and is difficult to assemble. It will take some time and care to assemble. Illustrated instructions are included. Depending on your skill level, it should take several days. Most of that time will be waiting for the glue and paint to dry.
