Description

HullSonic HS200 provides 2 x 50W outputs and generates up to 100W of ultrasonic acoustic energy. With two transducer outputs, the system is engineered as a stand-alone system for effective protection for vessels up to 32' / 10m in length.

100 Watts of Power (50W per channel)

The system is capable of generating 50 Watts of signal output per channel (100W total). The Ultrasonic acoustic sonication disrupts fouling attachment, growth, and reproduction.

2 Ultrasonic Transducers (Emitters)

This system is equipped with two ultrasonic transducers that are used to generate the ultrasonic energy, this energy will emanate through the protected surfaces and disrupt marine fouling.

ECONOMY / STANDARD & BOOST Modes Mode

This HullSonic system provides a convenient low power mode (ECO) for use with solar & wind power supplies. While also retaining the STANDARD mode for normal operation & a BOOST mode for increased output, allowing you to manage your system as you see fit.

Please Note: HullSonic ultrasonic anti-fouling systems are provided with 23ft of cable per transducer. Depending on boat size, you may require additional transducer cable to reach the transducer mounting location. Typically this can be extended using the off-cuts from other transducers installed closer to the control module, or using the same type of cable. Contact Us for assistance with extension advise. Lengths can be extended up to 40m. 

This unit can also be combined with other Hull Sonic systems to extend protective range and/or anti-fouling intensity.

 

Introduction

The HullSonic Ultrasonic Antifouling System is designed to drastically increase the life of your expensive and antifouling chemical paints that you have had to use in the past to prevent marine growth.

As Marine growth activity can be very aggressive the HullSonic Ultrasonic Antifouling System works best when installed after a fresh hull clean and new antifouling paint job.

Be assured, however, that the HullSonic Ultrasonic Antifouling System will add years to an antifouling paint job no matter how hostile your marine environment!

Marine Growth on Boat Hulls

Marine organisms will attach to virtually any underwater surface if that surface remains immobile for even a short amount of time, marine growth will start. Marine growth typically attaches to your boat hull to catch tiny organisms that drift by from tidal activity. Left alone the underside of your boat will look like it has a thick, green carpet!

Normally a hull is painted with a product called antifouling paint to prevent this from happening. Antifouling paint has some dangerous chemicals in it to deter marine organisms from settling on your hull. It was soon found that these chemicals fell out of the paint and entered the environment and were deadly to oysters, mussels and other marine life. As a result these chemicals were banned.       

Today's antifouling paint has far more benign chemicals (which are less effective) but operate in a different way. When the marine organism attaches to the hull (and therefore the paint), the paint flakes off taking the organism with it. Of course this only works for so long before you need to apply a new coat of antifouling paint.

How the Antifouling Unit Works

Inside the main control box is a specially programmed microprocessor which centrally controls the system, calibrating to your vessel shortly after being turned on it will then send out a range of ultrasonic pulses with varying frequencies to the external transducer units. These transducers are attached with epoxy to the inside of the vessel's hull, transferring the ultrasonic pulses directly into the hull. The hull then vibrates in tune with the ultrasonic wave pulse, making for an uncomfortable environment for marine growth. Indeed, it would be like trying to go to bed in the front row of a heavy metal concert!

The ultrasonic pulses are outside the range of human hearing, and are attenuated after about 10 metres through water. If your boat is in a pen the boats each side may partially benefit from reduced growth as well!

Power is supplied by 12VDC, making wiring installation easy. A low voltage cut-out feature is also included, which protects the boat's batteries from being overused It is ideal if your boat is in a pen with AC shore power constantly charging your batteries. If you are on a mooring without shore power, wind or solar charging is strongly recommended.

Remember, if the 12VDC supply to the HullSonic Ultrasonic Antifouling System fails, it stops keeping the marine growth at bay.

NOTE: Larger vessels can simply use multiple units. Twin hull vessels will require double the recommendations above.
