Description:
The gallery was founded in 1970 by Rob Jurka and specialized in realistic art and graphics, also publishing his own graphic editions. He also participated in many international art fairs such as Art Basel and Art Cologne. In the 1980s, the focused shifted somewhat to Dutch art and artists (Gubbels 1999, p. 98). In 1992 Jurka closed his gallery to work as an assistant at Galerie Barbara Farber at the Keizersgracht (Het Parool, 12-12-1991). Farber left Amsterdam in 1997, and Jurka opened Galerie Farber-Rob Jurka at his former address at Singel 28, where he continued to work with Farber (Kunstbeeld, no. 9, 1997, p. 6). In 2000 he changed the name back to Galerie Jurka and continued on his own, until the gallery closed in 2002. Robert Mapplethorpe, Andy Warhol, David Hockney, Pol Mara and many more.
T E R M S O F S A L E: Most items are found at estate sales and flea markets and are in many cases 50+ years old. They could show signs of age and wear. I do my best to describe and take many pictures. I will point out any major flaws, but look carefully at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE purchase, I'm happy to answer!! The color of the images provided may vary to some extent depending on your monitor, every monitor displays color and brightness differently.
