Mixed metals & lots of attached elements in this hand crafted piece. We are not 100% sure of metals. The top is either engraved copper or brass/bronze, the butterfly looks silver or silver plated and the few we found similar to this were listed as either sterling or silver plated. It is also stamped with what appears to be KP on the top back of top section. That should indicate a gold plating at some point, but if it was, it is long gone. We see nothing indicating a gold plate.
We are selling this necklace assuming there is no notable precious metal value. We attempted to identify the item as best we could and by comparing to similar sales, but we did not test the metals and a have to go by our best guess. We can say, none of the metal on the necklace attracted to a magnet and the tarnish on silver colored portions sure give it at least a silver plate appearance.
The most similar one to this sold for around $150 a while back on eBay. We are offering this one for a little less although we think ours has a little better detail work. We did not try to clean item, as some prefer old jewelry with patina. The other similar necklace that sold, stated that these were made by Chinese craftsmen during the late Art Deco period (1920's-1930's) and imported by jewelers in the United States.
