I have no idea how old this item is or when it was last tested or used.

All it has hod done to it is a light cleaning and the threads on the metal pipe cleaned with a wire brush.

The on/off tap fits the larger campgaz cylinders, I have connected the tap to a cyclinder have as a spare in my shed just to see if the control knob turns the gas on and off.

I am no expert when it come to gas items, I think before you use the regulator on an appliance you should wind some sealing tape around any of the threads that you can see just to be on the safe side or let someone who may be more qualified than me have a look as well.
