I own a specialty advertising company, now in our 45th year - and I was in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm.   We are now in the semi-retirement stages and I am offering our somewhat unusual advertising pieces collected over the years. In the 1980's we sold Wilson Company folders that were custom imprinted for KEDS, the famous shoe manufacturer.   Rather than being just surface hot-stamped, these were deep embossed hot-stamped creating a somewhat 3-D look.   Embossing dies must be deeper than mere hot stamp ones.   Also more pressure is required, therefore the mounting block must be more substantial. This was a two imprint job.   One imprint is the KEDS logo and the other just the "swoop". Here are the actual dies used so very long ago.   A few details: *   The logo die is 2.75" x 1.5".   The "swoop" is 1.75" x .8152".   Both are fairly substantial as the mounting blocks are solid metal, I think zinc. *   Hot stamping dies are mounted using a special tape.    Embossing dies generally are screw mounted as more pressure is exerted. *   Our policy was to always request the return of dies.   When we received them my secretary was to stamp them on a envelope suing regular stamp pad ink and label the company name.   They were then stored by company name in several file cabinets we set aside just for cuts.   These two for KEDS were still in the stamped envelope as shown in one of my photos.   I did not clean them up as I felt they look better just as they are with the patina.   However, should the purchaser wish to do so, they can be easily cleaned to sparkle. To display these metal dies, I have a synthetic marble base.  The size is 4.75" x 3.75".   I added a metal plate and engraved the word "KEDS" on it as shown. The two dies are affixed to the base with 3M two way trophy tape.   Assembled it weighs over one pound! Although probably over 35 years old, the dies are in virtually as new condition and could be used for stamping if desired.    What a fantastic piece of KEDS memorabilia and perfect for the current or former Wolverine - the current owner of KEDS - employee - or collector of such memorabilia.   Guaranteed this is the only one in existence, as I just made it!
