Muira Puama (Ptychopetalum olacoides) 1Kg - 2.2 Lbs

Description

Muira Puama or Marapuama is the indigenous name for Ptychopetalum olacoides, a shrub or small tree native to the Amazon rainforest.
It has a long tradition of use by the amazon indigenous tribes as an aphrodisiac, energetic and general brain tonic, and also to help with nausea and stomach pain and general digestive problems.
Muira puama roughly translates to "potency wood"

Still today muira puama is highly regarded in Brazilian herbal medicine and has a reputation as a powerful aphrodisiac along other benefits.

The root and bark of muira puama are rich in alkaloids menisperine, moschamine, magnoflorine and a novel alkaloid which researchers called Muirapuamine. In addition muira puama contains a broad spectrum of phenolic acids, fatty acids, plant sterols, triterpenes and flavonoids.

HOW TO TAKE MUIRA PUAMA:

The recommended muira puama dose is 1 to 5 grams of raw powder, or one teaspoon.
Although muira puama is commonly consumed as a tea in Brazil, it is not the best option since many of the active compounds are not water soluble. A tincture or an extract is much more effective and preserves the plant's original properties. Since the recommended muira puama dose is low (1-5g) you can simply add a teaspoon of muira puama powder to your drink or food.

You should always be careful when taking muira puama and paying close attention to your doses.
Muira puama side effects include hand tremors, palpitations and premature ejaculation.
If you are not sure of how to take muira puama please physician before taking it.

MUIRA PUAMA TEA:

Add 2 tablespoons (or 10g to 15g) of muira puama powder to 1L of water.
Add a few drops of lemon or vinegar and simmer for 10-20 min.
Filter with a coffee filter.

MUIRA PUAMA TINCTURE:

Find a good glass jar with lid and fill it half way with the muira puama powder.
Add vodka, everclear or any other high proof grain alcohol until the liquid level is at least 5cm (2") above the powder.
Add a few drops of white distilled vinegar.
Seal jar properly and shake two times per day during one month.
When ready, filter out the alcohol with a coffee filter.
The muira puama tincture can now be used as is, the dose should be 1ml -4ml.

MUIRA PUAMA EXTRACT:

After you filter the tincture, you can pour it into a large dish or pot and leave it in a windy place until it fully evaporates (be careful with flames around alcohol). The result will be a resin of concentrated muira puama extract.
You should dose this extract carefully, no more than 1 gram.
